Muka Prints

Muka prints is coming to the Invercargill Public Art Gallery on September 14th.

The concept behind this exciting show was born in November 1987 at Muka studio, where Frans and Magda organised an exhibition of original artworks exclusively for people under 18. It was intended as a one off, but due to popular demand the concept was repeated time and again.

Now in its 32nd year, it has become a New Zealand icon. Frans and Madga are set to travel the country again, from Invercargill to Auckland, giving New Zealand youngsters the occasion to build their personal precious art collection.

Muka Prints showcases 40 original, signed and numbered lithographs by 20 artists. What makes this exhibition truly unique it that the names and signatures of the artists are covered, and only people between the ages of 5 - 18 are allowed entry to see, select and eventually buy a maximum 3 works. All works carry the same $75 price tag, and they must be purchased for the young person's own collection or a school.

If you have a young one that fits the brief, we hope you will head along to IPAG on the 14th September and be part of this awesome opportunity.

IPAG would like to thank the Southland Museum & Art Gallery for their assistance with securing this exhibition.
